Cool cool cool, a sizeable number of folks I look up to have been hired by Anthropic in the past few years. How long they’ll stay now will tell me how much I should keep looking up to them: techcrunch.com/2024/11/07/anth…

AI was always going to be converted to Surveillance Capitalism in service to the state because of who funds it.

No one wants to be a voyeur into the lives of nonbelievers more than religious fossil fuel interests.

It's a habit of mine to amplify good posts with additional information.

It was directed at readers who might want to know more about your post or get more context.

Building consensus in public sentiment means sharing what we know with others.

The flow of money reveals much about motives & intentions.

Follow the money.

@Npars01 I see, I’m not of the view that my mastodon posts are a public wiki to be added to at will, but I do understand the point of view. ✌️

Mastodon doesn't have Algorithmic Amplification.

To have a post read more widely, it has to be done manually by human beings.

@Npars01 I also do absolutely have no need mastodon explained to me or have me convinced of the opposite if the view I just outlined. ✌️
in reply to Jan Lehnardt :couchdb:

I wasn't explaining it to you. The amplification was directed at people reading your post.

If you do not want your post read by a wider audience beyond your personal followers, let your readers know.

Hashtags are what run the Fediverse. Put hashtags at the end of your posts, and subscribe to hashtags that reflect your interests. Like #Architecture for example. Put it in your search bar, then click on the top active tag, then hit the follow button. This how you find your tribe, too. Follow people who show up in your home feed once you subscribe to some hashtags. Hope this helps.

@Npars01 For my part, I didn’t see the point you were making when somebody I follow boosted it. Not until until somebody *else* I follow boosted Nicole’s post explaining it for you. It’s a good point now that I see it, but this exchange between you is serving as a signal that I should probably block both of you.

The rot in our system of tax-exempt entities is breathtaking. The entire thing must be dumped. Not going to happen now. It is just demoralizing. I hope these bastards all destroy each other. 🤬 ☠️

Sometimes the fastest recovery strategy isn't to thwart the inevitable crash by slowing it down, but to accelerate the timeline so it's a fast & hard crash instead.

Wars for example. Financial crises.

Hiroshima was said to conclude WW2 & saved millions from starvation. Quick & hard crash with a very, very high price tag.

As opposed to a long, drawn out decline followed by a millenia long Dark Ages, like the fall of the Roman Empire.

Neither strategy is appealing...

2/2

1. Fruitlessly patching a crumbling bulwark against the coming floods while Trump's Qrazies remove the patches after they're applied...

2. A fast, hard, quick collapse that risks nuclear war & irrecoverable ecological catastrophe...

There are those advocating for logical consequences for Trump voters, & letting GOP policies hit them hard in the face.

But the right wing is enabled by AI disinformation tech to shift blame to others & retaliate against those who had nothing to do with it.

Yes agreed. It's like cutting off an infected limb so it doesn't poison you. Not sure that is exactly the correct analogy. 😆
