I’ve recently attended several educational events on the New Apostolic Reformation, and this post and headline jumped out at me. The language of spiritual warfare is peppered throughout: she prays to God to “put her in the fight,” she wants the anti-LGBTQ movement to emulate confederate general Robert E Lee, and she - or someone, I can’t easily click back to the article without losing my post here - says that they will not “retreat.” I’m curious as well about the phrase “stand her ground” that appears in the article. It’s not a direct quote, but I do wonder if the ‘apostle’ herself used those words and if we should interpret them as having a weapon behind them backing them up. That matters to me a lot, especially when we’re catapulting toward an existential election and someone is using words like “the lord’s authority over the election process.”

NAR is a novel theology that was invented in the 1970’s. The key feature is Dominionism. Where they believe Christians are supposed to take over political power. Not only is that anti-constitutional, it is also an obvious heresy compared to Christ’s teaching about loving your neighbors and free will/belief. A lot of the vocal evangelicals you hear about in the news follow NAR teachings including some on the Supreme Court.
