This NYS trooper flipped out and ended up terrorizing a black family and ultimately murdering an 11-yo girl a few miles from my house. And then covered it up. I’ve been following the case closely.

The 2020 collision took place after Baldner told another trooper he wanted to write one more ticket before his shift ended. He pulled over a Dodge Journey — a crossover utility vehicle — driving north on the Thruway and, using profanity, accused the driver, Tristan Goods, of speeding in excess of 100 mph before an argument ensued.
When Goods asked Baldner to call a supervisor to the scene, he went back to his cruiser, retrieved a can of pepper spray and “without warning or provocation, pepper-sprayed the passenger cabin of the SUV, and Goods' wife and two children began screaming in pain,” the appellate decision states. “Goods, who had shielded his eyes from the spray, fled the traffic stop; in the commotion, defendant’s pepper spray canister ended up inside the passenger cabin of the SUV.”
As Baldner gave chase, he used his troop car to strike the SUV twice as it was being driven at a high rate of speed by Goods, the father of Monica Goods, who was killed in the crash in the town of Ulster, just north of Kingston. Four people, including Goods' wife and another child, were in the SUV during the incident. Monica Goods was ejected from the vehicle while it flipped several times in a median before coming to rest on top of her. Prosecutors said Baldner’s troop car was traveling 130 mph when it struck the SUV the first time, causing the vehicle to start to lose control. Ten seconds later, Baldner sped up and “deliberately aimed his vehicle at the rear corner of the center of the Goods' vehicle so as to knock it off balance,” Matthew B. Keller, a state assistant solicitor general, had argued
Keller said that Baldner lied about what happened and claimed that the driver’s SUV had struck his car. He said Baldner also had sought to tamper with evidence at the scene and was more concerned about finding his canister of pepper spray than trying to rescue the girl who was trapped under the overturned vehicle.
