I had to go log into my Wordpress.org account to make sure this wasn't just some joke. And it isn't.

I don't *think* I'm affiliated with WP Engine in any way, but I guess any chance of ever contributing to #WordPress again is out the window if I can't guarantee it.

What's weird with stuff like that is that you have to agree in order to log in so you can delete/disable your account

It is just the lamest story in all of FOSS right now and it keeps getting dumber

feels like Matt is having a break down (also based on his hackernews comments).

Might just need someone to help him through this…

The thing I’ve taken away from this is that if you criticise WP-Engine (who earn money by reselling Wordpress) they send you a cease-and-desist letter.

From there on things quickly went downhill with both sides having toddler-like tantrums.

So, first Matt complains about WPE not giving back enough. Now, they've made it basically impossible for anyone affiliated with WPE to login and contribute? :/

From the screenshot it is not clear, but will they NOT allow you to login if that box is unchecked ?
e.g. `Remember me` is optional - it'll still let you log in.

Is there a good alternative to WordPress that isn't Drupal / require becoming a web developer to make a decent website, or a security mess?
