That bit always astonishes me. 30% of the population would apparently be eager to see an autocratic one-party state so long as it excludes women and non-whites from power or rights @Remittancegirl
I've seen articles about this. A huge issue is church, especially evangelical. These folk have grown up being told what to do and that is the framework for their life. They need someone telling them what to do. About 30% of the population cannot function without a rigid framework to live their lives. So with regards to fascism, I guess there is always a 30% base to build from.
Also, they can be horrible people and commit crimes because they believe the end justifies the means and βGodβ will forgive them and welcome them into βheaven.β (Iβm an atheist, hence the quotation marks.)
Yeah, the idea that the man who embodies the 7 deadly sins and who has broken most of the 10 commandments is the next coming of Jesus is quite the thing. @GottaLaff @mloxton @Remittancegirl
This is something missed by all the economic assessments of Trump's tariffs. It's about putting Trump in a position to reward companies that toady up to him & punish those he doesn't like. It makes economic policy, like everything else, about personal loyalty to the strongman.
The Republicans are the ones selling farmland to China here in Missouri.
Is there a reason they absolutely cannot bring themselves to be honest about anything? It's embarrassing that we can't be rid of an entire party of pathological liars.
