🚨BREAKING: #SCOTUS Won’t Hear #Pennsylvania Republicans’ Case Invoking Fringe Theory on State Power in Federal Elections.

“… Court declined to review a lawsuit from 27 Pennsylvania Republican lawmakers seeking to revive the right-wing independent state legislature (ISL) theory, which posits the U.S. Constitution affords state legislatures exclusive authority to regulate federal elections”

Unfortunately they also refused to make an adjudication to free us from using 2 envelopes to return a mail ballot, which requires a signature and date on the outer envelope. The date isn’t used for anything at all, since ballots not received by Election Day are not counted. Some counties (at their own discretion) will notify voters to cure any missing or incorrect data, others (such as my own deep red county) have chosen to just pitch the ballots.

@MarkAB the date is required for attestation to which you are agreeing. If the state wants to charge someone with voting when they aren't qualified, it's that outer signature and date that get them.

@EricTheRedFL I don’t understand your first sentence. Mail ballots in PA are only sent upon request, and your eligibility is determined before they send out the ballot. The date isn’t used at all by the election boards. If they don’t receive your ballot by the time the polls close, your vote is not counted. The only function of the signature and date are to provide yet another method to discard otherwise valid votes.
