If you hate protesters blocking roads in the name of taking immediate #ClimateAction, you’re going to really hate how Climate Change itself blocks roads.

A picture today from Valencia, Spain where they received 500mm of rain, a year’s worth, in one day on Tuesday. >95 dead.
#ClimateEmergency #ClimateChange

edit: More Pictures. Valencia is the third largest city in Spain. It affected towns just to the south (Sedavi) of it mainly as well as other areas of Southeast Spain.

#KochNetwork spent a lot of money on climate denying Republicans and a corrupt Supreme Court willing to kneecap the EPA.

This is the result. Billions in damages, pennies in recompense.

Charles Koch has set aside $5 billion to finish what he started.

Ending Democracy. Frying the planet.

Embedding public corruption everywhere.

Considering the scope of the damage, this isn’t squat. Notwithstanding that, it’s the largest settlement to date.

The original EPA judgment came during the Clinton administration.

#KochNetwork would wage war on the Clintons forevermore in a kind of personal vendetta.

Citizens United came about because of that vendetta against the Clintons.

The erosion of the EPA's authority would be funded at a corrupt Supreme Court because of that case.

Just went and geolocated this picture for an after climate-disaster/before climate-disaster look on Google Maps. Map link below, the main highway V-30, that runs around the south side of the City of Valencia alonside the, often dry, riverbed of the Turia river. #ClimateAction #ClimateEmergency #ClimateChange #valencia #españa #valencia #cambioclimatico #climático

The town of Chiva, about 50km upland to the east of the City of Valencia is where they recorded the historic nearly 500mm of rain. There are mountains about 50-100km inland of the entire Spanish coast, so the rain accumulates into the river valleys there and floods to the coast.

“With every fraction of a degree of fossil fuel warming, the atmosphere can hold more moisture, leading to heavier bursts of rainfall,” said Dr Friederike Otto, from Imperial College London, who leads an international group of scientists who try to understand the role that warming plays in these type of events.
“No doubt about it, these explosive downpours were intensified by climate change.”

Hey @GottaLaff! You know how Project 2025 proposes to get rid of things like the NOAA and FEMA? Well the left-wing government in the Valencia region got replaced last year with a right wing government and lo-and-behold:

"Valencia’s regional government has also been forced to defend its decision to scrap the Valencia Emergency Unit, which had been set up by the previous government to tackle natural disasters such as flooding and wildfires.”
