Depends on your perspective but, S.C.M. Paine, the historian, believes the 1929 crash started a domino effect that resulted in WW2 when Germany invaded Poland & the UK honored its treaty.
The irresponsible greed of the wealthy in the USA & UK triggered a cascade of poor decisions.
