This text on resistance in Minneapolis reminds me so much of @pluralistic 's book "Little Brother". It shows that groups need not be powerless victims, even when facing evil.

"ICE has made the classic Nazi mistake. They've invaded a winter people in the winter."

Come for the quote, stay for the text.

@astifter
This article was good to read, especially this part:

"I've been here 24 hours, but already with what I've seen, well, I genuinely believe we're going to win. People here are well aware that what happens here impacts the entire country, that it sets the tone for resistance. ICE is angry, ICE is terrified, of how deeply unpopular it is."

@mrose

She's saying: The public do not support ICE's actions. Resistance is going to escalate. Eventually Trump and the forces of fascism will be defeated. I hope she's right.

No one was talking in terms of "winners."

@bodhipaksa @astifter I wonder if local gun shops have had a run on 50mm rounds for Desert Eagles. I wonder what would happen if ICE decided to enter the home of the person that bought said ammo. I also wonder of their body armor can stand a 50mm round. If this sort of thing continues, I think there will be more dead ICE agents.

Meanwhile, I'll stick to the new stock of pins I got at the Voodoo Supply store.

in reply to Michael Vilain

@mvilain @bodhipaksa @astifter Some have suggested that the Administration is hoping that some person kills or seriously injures an ICE agent during an illegal home invasion so that they can justify a more extreme clampdown on dissent.

@EricFielding

It's almost certain that this is what Trump wants, so that he can invoke the insurrection act and send in the troops. Given his knowledge that the midterms are going to go badly for him, it's likely that ICE will behave more and more provocatively in the next few months, either so that the show of strength will energize his base, or so that he can claim he has the right to suspend the election.

The richest people on the planet are funding these fascists.

Keep a look out for their playbook conduct too.

@Npars01 @bodhipaksa @EricFielding What real representatives of the sovereign American people would do to keep Trump & his gang from stealing another election:
1. Impeach
2. Convict
3. Remove from office
4. Disqualify from holding public office ever again
5. Bar each of his appointees, staffers & affiliates from getting anywhere near Executive, Legislative & Judicial branches under the United States ever again.
6. Hold public trials on the Trump gang's conspiracy against rights & conspiracy against the U.S.

The Veruka Strategy -- make it expensive for billionaires to fund a fascist movement.

"The through‑line is simple: every new front the regime opens is another bill it has to pay-- with money, infrastructure, legitimacy, & people.

The most effective counter‑strategy is to make compliance more expensive than resistance for everyone feeding this machine: ...”

... help starve a project that is now threatening almost everyone, everywhere."
