"Mastodon sucks." Every last bit of Fedi is built by members of your community trying to provide a space to people for free, often at great expense to themselves. This isn't some social network we just rolled up and started using, we built it. I wish more people understood that before they slam it. 
"... get the latest videos tailored to you". Or you just follow awesome creators, like Jeff, on Mastodon to get the latest videos tailored to you, without Google tracking you 
.
I genuinely think finding content (or even physical products) via a non-profit, independent, opensource platform like Mastodon, either by directly following or via boosts or custom lists, is the way to go. Not via some opaque algorithm.
(It would just be nice if searching worked better on the #Fediverse)

It's the internet, people. It's OUR internet. Just because we decided to trust Google to not be evil doesn't mean that Google decides the future of the internet. We may very well have lost The Web, but we still can make the Internet of People. Decentralised. Unownable ;) Being here on the #Fediverse is part of that.
