Magicore now supports "color regions”. The background is only 3 bitplanes (8 colors), but this new feature lets the game change the BG palette on different parts of the screen. It's all automated—the compiler scans the source image to figure out optimal color swaps, then the game engine takes that info and builds the copperlist for it.

As a test, I imported this free 19-color BG I found online (art by ansimuz) and the results are quite stunning. Blog post soon!

And the intro music is absolutely fantastic. I love how close it sounds to game intros on the #Amiga, masterfully blending two different eras of gaming.

It will likely remain in my memory next to other intro musics that mesmerized me, and still linger after so many years as vivid memories of beautiful games I played. Morrowind, Legend of Grimrock 2, Eye of the Beholder...
