11 years ago, as I prepared to leave Puerto Rico for the mainland United States, my father shared words that have echoed through time: "Your vote will be more impactful there than here." Never have those words rung more true than during this election cycle. To my fellow boricuas in the diaspora: we carry our culture, our heritage, and our power wherever we go. We must vote for the candidates who recognize, respect, and honor our identity and the resilience of our global community.
