I don’t think “failure to be pliant” or a lust for killing MAGA enemies is the main point.
I think they believe that winning the midterms is an existential necessity and will do practically anything to accomplish that.
I think they need to disenfranchise enough Blue cities and states so they can “win”.
One aspect: keep increasing brutality to get some response they can spin to impose a version of martial law and disrupt elections.
The murders of unarmed civilians on the streets of Minneapolis, including of Alex Pretti, would not come as a shock to Iraqis in Fallujah or Afghans in Helmand province - terrorized by US execution squads for decades....
