Incendiary devices have been set off at two ballot drop boxes — one in Portland, Oregon, and another in nearby Vancouver, Washington — in what one official called a “direct attack on democracy.

Students in a rural school district in the poorest county in Oregon are crushing it at reading. The district's reading scores were second-best in the state overall, and its third graders were ranked first in the state.

Luckily the county has an excellent newspaper that punches well above its weight-- the Malheur Enterprise -- and one of their reporters sat in with a third grade class to see why those students read so well.
