We got back from a trip to Krakow yesterday, but on our last full day, like so many millions before us, we visited this nearby memorial to human wickedness.
Auschwitz-Birkenau is just as humbling and upsetting as you might expect, but it was made worse for us by the thought that there are probably plenty of people in the world today who'd be happy to do the whole extermination of minority groups thing all over again...
