There are plenty of windows along the Thames, but is anyone looking out of them? I remember a time when the south bank was all grimy old industrial and commercial buildings, but now it's end-to-end luxury flats. How many of them are actually lived in though? Is Vauxhall just a very conspicuous ghost town?

Cavern Of Lost Souls, Wales. A narrow opening in this old slate mine has allowed decades of illegal dumping of cars and household appliances. The water is an ominous turquoise, filled with a toxic cocktail of leached chemicals.
