>> there has to competition between Bezos and Musk with respect to aerospace subsidies.
#Bezos will eat #Musk alive. The last-moment surprise withholding of #WAPO editorial endorsement for #KamalaHarris was a shrewd move to get a seat at the table.
Musk has no idea he will be swimming with alpha sharks, not all friendly.

So after writing this 👆 last night...
An article appeared this morning in Guardian about the election being in the hands of the #oligarchs. They are the ones pulling the strings on Puppet Trump who is their #VeryUsefulIdiot.
theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
#RJK #Murdoch #Bezos et al all on the phone to him "persuading" him to do their bidding for their particular area of influence: oil coal media pharma finance tech ...
And there, at the top of the pile, with his batteries, cars, X, Space-X and direct phoneline to Putin, is #Musk. Grinning his stupid grin, jumping his stupid jumps, waving his stupid waves.
Hes ready to join a Trump government in charge and in control of industry cutbacks (of course he is) But remember he's also in charge of a space programme that can control satellites that control the function of global business and finance. He can shut us down and shut businesses out at any time he wishes.
And Musk's next big foray will be into AI - so he won't need little ppl on production lines. And if he's working with Putin he won't need #Trump or the American Constitution.

Trump may become president again – but he’s already a useful idiot to the mega rich
They make nice with him when it suits, ridicule him when he’s not listening. Their lives are money and gossip – with him they get both, says Guardian columnist Marina HydeMarina Hyde (The Guardian)
Inside The #WashingtonPost’s Decision to Stop Presidential Endorsements
Post owner Jeff #Bezos ended the decades-long practice, weeks after a discussion at a meeting in Miami. The move has drawn criticism in and outside the newsroom.
Reading the comments on Jeff Bezos' piss poor attempt at an explanation for not endorsing Harris and losing 200K subscribers, some of them are brilliant:
My favourites are: "Democracy died in broad daylight" and "That's a lot of extra words where "my moral cowardice knows no bounds and anyway I do what I want" would work just as well."

In a #WashingtonPost OpEd, Jeff #Bezos spins some #bullshit in an attempt to excuse his #acquiescence to #Trump’s threats to perceived enemies & a #FreePress.

The point here is not to plead for pity for the poor #press. Courageous reporting is courageous because it puts #journalists in conflict w/powerful people. Anyone who expects adulation all the time should go into a different business. (This also goes for any #media owner who might feel tempted to tone down criticism of #Trump [#Bezos].)
#Fascist #Tyranny #Autocracy #Authoritarianism #illiberalism
Jeff Bezos has caved in to fascism by forbidding his Washington Post editorial staff from endorsing Kamala Harris in a likely quid pro quo with Mango Mussolini.
Jeff Bezos engaged in illegal union-busting tactics, spending over $14 million in 2022 alone to undercut his employees' rights.
Jeff Bezos spent $500 million to build his personal floating mansion Koru, the tallest sailing yacht in the world that is so big, it has its own 250-foot support yacht.
Jeff Bezos, executive chairman of Amazon, extorts 50% of revenue from sellers on the monopolistic retail website Amazon.com.
Jeff Bezos this year bought his *fourth* private jet for $80 million, a Gulfstream G700 luxury business jet that travels near the speed of sound. Bezos’ plane made 28 flights in 39 days — leaving a carbon footprint of 264 tons, or 17 times what the average American emits in a year.
Jeff Bezos, as reported by ProPublica, filed a tax return in 2011 showing he lost money and received a $4,000 child tax credit from the US government during a year in which his wealth held steady at $18 billion.
I can go on and on, but how many reasons do you need to boycott anything he touches?
Cancel your Washington Post subscription. Cancel your Amazon Prime membership. Boycott Amazon.
You have alternatives. Don't feed the beast.

60,000 cancelled subscriptions in the first 24 hours following the NO endorsement announcement from #Bezos #WaPo is absolutely staggering. this might be the first time in the history of USA media that this happens.
but forget about the Washington Post a minute: Bezos trashed his credibility overnight. doesn't matter if he has the biggest valuation in the world, making him the richest asshole on paper. Bezos wants the respectability and influence of culture makers.
that ain't happening… ever.
Someone should send #Bezos this 2022 story from the #washingtonpost about All the President's Men... Redford said papers were "chicken---" for not covering Watergate because Nixon was "vindictive and mean."

Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein say decision ignores ‘threat Donald Trump poses to democracy’Financial Times
Gross: "Hours after the editorial board of the Jeff Bezos-owned Washington Post broke tradition by saying it wouldn’t endorse a presidential candidate, Trump briefly spoke with executives from Bezos’ space exploration company Blue Origin, the AP reported."
