A #dday tribute to my late friend, CBS correspondent Richard C. Hottelet. Here’s his radio report, filed after flying over the invasion beaches in a bouncing, low-flying bomber. He was met back in the studio by Ed Murrow, who had brought along a bucket in case Dick had to throw up.
He didn’t have to use it.
Also: a photo of Eisenhower’s order, authorizing Dick to cover the landings and their aftermath.
