Hey, It’s the 9th May. It’s time for #11ty conf later today. 🎉

I can't believe they let me in! Not sure I'll make it live, but I'll definitely catch up on the recordings. Thanks, @zachleat, for organizing. Massive props, too, for the self-ironic official symposium name! 👏 #11ty #11tyConf https://conf.11ty.dev/tickets/dd63c1f430c4410dbd8247f716f52066

beyond thrilled to be speaking at The 11ty International Symposium on Making Websites Real Good tomorrow on the IndieWeb and how to take your posting back from third-party services using POSSE and open standards :)

(this is my first talk at a real conference, I'm shaking like a leaf bro)

Really excited for my clickbaity talk tomorrow at...

The 11ty International Symposium on Making Websites Real Good (best conf name ever)

You're probably doing web performance wrong*

* It’s not actually wrong, you’re probably just making your job harder and getting frustrated from trying everything with no impact.

Tomorrow evening will be fun and interesting! Starting with The 11ty Conference, better known as:

11ty's International Symposium on Making Web Sites Real Good 🎈

that's got a great lineup of folks and talks I'm looking forward too - and a Scalable CSS Masterclass nestled in between that.

(Hopefully I can catch up with any #11ty talks I miss at a later time)

very much looking forward to the #11ty conference on Thursday - just had the schedule drop into my inbox and it is looking good!

Moved my personal website from #nextjs to #11ty this weekend, and started with a great template/theme by @lukem.

- Build time is down from approx 2 min to 5 seconds. - Full text should now be available in RSS (and kept the link the same!).
- Repo is now hosted on #codeberg instead of GitHub (I think this is site number 3 to transition)

Biggest desire is less dependencies to have to worry about. Having all posts in markdown did make the transition pretty painless.

My #11ty shirt is in the country 🥳

Well well #11ty conf merch has arrived. Many thanks for the new stickers, friends.

More reasons to attend the #11ty conference next week, besides the fact that it is FREE! @eleventy

just realized i never shared this here: https://github.com/mayank99/open-styleable

it's a proof-of-concept showing what it would feel like to be able to style shadow dom openly using page stylesheets.

everyone has been mobbing me trying to get these #11ty stickers and my Keep Building for the Web #eleventy shirt. We may need more security for #11tyConf

Finally moved from Eleventy 0.12 to 1.0.1, which I didn’t really need to do…but I was curious how much work it would involve. Turns out: not much! Just two small wrinkles, one of which is Eleventy-related, the other a weird JavaScript inconsistency that was breaking my Images Responsiver config:

I want to pair with someone to try to understand how I can fix a few things on my site. Preferably with someone who knows more #11ty and #JS than I do. This might take an hour on a call. You don't have to turn video on.

In return, I'll curate a list of five recipes according to your food preferences. Or teach you something in photography or food!

Omi. I released a new version of my #11ty Interlinker plugin https://www.npmjs.com/package/@photogabble/eleventy-plugin-interlinker fixing a bug someone had reported.

I then subsequently refactored the whole project and have begun down the rabbit hole of adding some missing features I have wanted for a while.

As I delve into yet another data analytics project, I'm wondering what static site generators folks are using these days?

Indieweb and static-site generator lovers, how do you host and organizelarge media? I want to share videos and photosets on the web but I don’t love the idea of just hosting them with YouTube, etc. Git isn’t great for large files and GitHub charges to host them so I don’t feel like I can just add them to my 11ty repo.

What solutions are out there? Ideally something that can be cheaply hosted and easy to integrate with 11ty, mirror, and migrate freely.

I tried #11ty today for the first time and the experience was amazing. I really like how lean it feels and their default to standards over complex abstractions.

Baby steps towards launch of my new web site. And new things to learn for each one of them:

When I put the static files from my #11ty build online, on my web server, individual post pages aren't rendered in the browser, but instead downloaded as text files. When I use 11ty's local dev server functionality, all works as expected.

I could need some help debugging what's going on here.

The files doesn't have any file suffix. Should .html be added by 11ty?

@JanMiksovsky @bglw Ditto on the pagefind recommendation. I wrote about how I added it to my #11ty static site. https://www.bobmonsour.com/posts/adding-pagefind-to-my-eleventy-personal-site.md/

Got bored with my old website design so I decided to make a new one. Tried to make it less boring, but I'm no designer, so I'm not sure if I succeeded.

OK, was not previously familiar with that. Using {% raw %} {% endraw %} did the trick. Thanks! #11ty

@eleventy When I blog about things I have done with #11ty I find I can't include the literal Nunjucks templating because any of that I put in the markdown gets interpreted by the engine. Generally it goes to nothingness because the variables are not populated at that scope.

How can I escape it so my templating is shown literally in the final HTML? I naively tried putting backslashes in front of the brackets but that did not seem to do the trick.
