Question for my American and Canadian leftist friends! #PleaseBoost #Organize #Rightwing #Leftwing #centrism
In Spain, the Valencian regional government, a coalition of the right-wing People’s Party and "ultras” Vox took power in the regional and many municipal governments last year.
Soon after, like the #Project2025 proposal to defund/privatize the NOAA and FEMA, the Valencian government eliminated the UVAE - an emergency response unit to deal with fire and flooding disasters in the region. (mundiario.com/articulo/politic…)
This weekend, after the catastrophic flooding killed over 200 and counting with billions in damage to infrastructure and business and people's lives, there are massive protests in #Valencia demanding the resignation of the government.
What will you do to prevent Trump and MAGA Republicans from endangering you? And Canadians? You can bet this is in Poillievre, Smith, Rustad, Moe, and Ford’s playbook as well.
Will you orgainize and respond before, or after, disaster strikes?
These rightwing neo-liberal and fascist forces, and the centrists who coddle them, don't care about you. They only care about redirecting the public purse from public service to their own personal and commercial interests.
What will you do to prevent that from happening?

Over 200 dead so far in #Valencia from #ClimateDisaster floods. Thousands displaced and disrupted. Towns and communities are cut off. Thousands are in need of basic supplies. The video is from Chiva (Xiva) where 490mm (20in) of rain fell in 8 hours, creating the incredible torrents.

1. If you think #valencia is out of the woods, think again. The cut-off low that pulls humid air from over the meditteranean across the mountains north of Valencia is not done yet. In the coming 2 days the @kachelmannwetter multimodel ensemble predicts up to 177 mm of extra rain in the region of #castellon .
Not only #Spain but the entire #EU will have to have a difficult conversation on how we'll prepare us for #weather #disaster amplified by #ClimateChange
A thread.
A mindblowing set of images of what the flood in #Valencia looks like from space - images of the same region from 8 and 30 October (I've been to the area, this is scary):
