This blog is now generated by Eleventy 3.0, which was released last month. The upgrade process took me a few hours over the course of two evenings and I took a few notes on my upgrade process for posterity.

My new website is online! fratorgano.me/
I truly enjoyed using @eleventy to build it, the flexibility provided by using an SSG is such a game changer!
This allows, for example, to automate the seasonal colour and profile pic changes without having to write additional client-side code.

I took some (or rather, a lot of) inspiration from the wonderful website of @latte, you should definitely check it out at: anhvn.com/

One of the things I’m working on while doing the #30DayMapChallenge is creating a portfolio site for the maps I create. It’s pretty hard explaining everything when you’re constrained by a 500-character limit, and this provides me with the space to expound on my mapmaking process.

Also, I took this opportunity to finally play around with @eleventy as a static-site generator, something that I mentioned last month: en.osm.town/@seav/113322416132…

I’m planning to create my first @eleventy site soon and I’m already wondering which template language to use. Given that #Eleventy supports several formats, there’s a minor #ParadoxOfChoice at play here. I’ll probably just go with #Nunjucks for its flexibility.

PDFs are useful, but they aren’t accessible, especially when it comes to ebooks.

In “Transforming eBooks: From PDFs to Accessible Web Experiences”, learn how we turned our latest #ebook into a dynamic reading experience that is also accessible using #11ty

Just wrote up my short talk from the 11ty meetup about using Cloudinary for dynamic social share images

Big props to @jlengstorf for the prior art and original code. Here I talk a lot about how gravity and layers work.

📝 11ty meetup: Tracking and displaying music history #Eleventy #Development #Webdev

I got to speak at the 11ty meetup today about the music tracking contraption I've built into my site. I have a fairly detailed post on how I built it and another on the method I'm using to render dynamic media (read: musician/band) pages.
